Government Relations and Advocacy
The Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA) has a reputation for superior government relations results and is consistently ranked among the top lobbying organizations in the state – confirmed by statistics gathered by the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board. Why are we ranked near the top? Because WHA’s government affairs program is based on a bipartisan approach to lobbying and a solid foundation of issue expertise, skill, experience and integrity. Due to these traits, WHA has built strong and trusted relationships with legislators and agency officials in both Madison and Washington, DC.
In effectively advocating on issues, WHA focuses on in-depth policy analysis, well-established legislative relationships, well-honed lobbying skills and strong grassroots advocacy.
- WHA Legislative Issues, Lobbying Efforts – Each legislative session WHA researches, monitors and lobbies on dozens of important hospital and health care issues. With our Government Affairs Team’s decades of collective legislative and policy experience, we are able to aggressively promote policies that help improve the delivery of hospital care in Wisconsin and oppose policies that negatively impact that care delivery.
- WHA Grassroots Advocacy Events and HEAT Action Network – Legislators need to know how issues impact Wisconsin hospitals and communities. WHA is aggressive in educating and mobilizing advocates on those issues. From our perennial Advocacy Day event, which draws over 1,000 hospital advocates to Madison each year to our 2,300+ strong advocacy network, HEAT, WHA provides the tools and means for hospitals to “speak up!”
HEAT Grassroots Advocacy
WHA's grassroots advocacy efforts, through the Hospitals Education & Advocacy Team (HEAT), are part of the reason that WHA is so well respected by Wisconsin legislators--because Wisconsin hospitals have thousands of individuals across the state who tell their legislators how they feel on important issues.
