Economic Impact of Hospitals

Wisconsin hospitals have a $28 billion impact on the state economy.  In many communities, the hospital is among the largest employer. There is a hospital in nine of out of ten counties, and hospitals employ about 110,000 people in family-sustaining jobs with good benefits.  Hospitals are a vital contributor to the local and state economies.  While they are certainly not immune from downturns in the economy, they have so far weathered the recession better than most other businesses.  The reports below describe the benefits that every hospital brings to its community.
