Program Description
Hospitals need to go beyond the simple application of the Lean tools to create a cuture of improvement at all levels of the organization. The purpose of this webinar is to provide methods that will create a self-sustaining performance improvement culture in a hospital. The session will focus on the Lean philosophy, identifying waste in a process, examine a typical improvement approach and the Toyota improvement approach, as well as discuss how to achieve a Lean culture.

Frank Mewborn, PE
Group Leader, Georgia Tech Healthcare Performance Group
As a member of the research faculty at Georgia Tech for the past 24 years, Frank Mewborn works with manufacturers and health care providers to train employees and guide management through the implementation of state-of-the-art management techniques. He is the Group Leader of the Healthcare Performance Group, which helps hospitals and other health care providers increase capacity, reduce costs and improve safety. His primary area of expertise is the application of Lean principles to reduce waste and improve work flow. He is a frequent speaker at state and national health care conferences. He recently conducted a four-hour workshop on Applying Lean Principles in Rural Hospitals at the American Hospital Association Rural Hospital Leadership Summit. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, Mewborn held industrial engineering and management positions with Reynolds Metals Company and Emery Worldwide. He holds Bachelor of Industrial Engineering and Masters of Industrial Management from Georgia Tech. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Georgia.

How the Webinar Will Work

Substitution, Transfer and Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received in writing up to five business days prior to an event will be given a full refund less a $50 processing fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations received less than five business days prior and day-of-program no-shows. Substitutions are accepted.
