Program Description
It has been more than eight years since the Institute of Medicine released its landmark report, To Err Is Human: Building a Safer Health System. Since this report was published, a lot of attention has been given to the causes of medical errors and ways to prevent them. Mistake-proofing has a significant role in patient safety. This webinar will address ways to utilize mistake-proofing as a quality improvement tool to improve patient safety.

John Grout, PhD, Dean, Campbell School of Business, Berry College, Rome, GA
John Grout PhD is the David C. Garrett, Jr. Associate Professor in Business Administration at the Campbell School of Business at Berry College. He has researched mistake-proofing extensively and given numerous presentations on this topic. Grout authored the book, Mistake-Proofing the Design of Health Care Processes, which was distributed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). He received his doctorate in Management Science at Penn State University. In addition to teaching at Berry, Grout also taught at Southern Methodist University in Dallas Texas. He has taught classes in operations, quality, statistics, quantitative methods, and materials management.

$295.00 for one phone line per site

How the Webinar Will Work
Dial-in instructions, on-line login instructions and any other reference materials will be emailed to each registrant approximately three days prior to the conference. If you do not receive them by this date, please email lgeishirt@wha.org.

It is the responsibility of the registrant to access presentation materials prior to the day of the event. If your e-mail address changes, you do not receive an e-mail with instructions from WHA, or if you are unable to open presentation materials, please contact Lisa Geishirt at WHA two days prior to the event to allow time to address the issue.

Substitution, Transfer and Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received in writing up to five business days prior to an event will be given a full refund less a $50 processing fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations received less than five business days prior and day-of-program no-shows. Substitutions are accepted.
