The Six Month Plan for Reducing Denials

Program Description
High payer denial rates are a major reason for poor financial performance in hospitals and medical practices. This session provides a step-by-step plan for implementing an effective denial management program in just six months. The key components include denial tracking mechanisms, fast-response processes, and correcting the root-cause problems that lead to chronic denials. Participants will learn the operational metrics that are key to understanding and managing denials and discover techniques for using data tracking to pinpoint and solve the root causes of high denials. Understand how to organize business office staff and configure information systems for optimal denial management.

Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this program, the participant will be able to:
  1. Describe a detailed plan to implementing a effective denial management program
  2. Discuss the key operational metrics to manage denials
  3. Discuss the optional staffing and IT configuration to maximize denial management

Faculty
Daniel Marino
Daniel Marino is recognized as a proven leader in the physician practice arena. His work with multi-specialty group practices around the country has allowed many organizations to realize significant improvements in financial performance. Marino shares his insights regularly at health care industry events, including national conferences for group practice leaders and regional practice management information system meetings.

A successful trainer, Marino has designed and presented several education programs to help health care professionals at all levels learn and adopt revenue cycle best practices. He has also written several articles for national publications on how medical groups can improve financial performance. Marino received both his MHA and MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

How the Webinar Will Work
Dial-in instructions, on-line login instructions and any other reference materials will be emailed to each registrant approximately three days prior to the conference. If you do not receive them by this date, please email lgeishirt@wha.org.

It is the responsibility of the registrant to access presentation materials prior to the day of the event. If your e-mail address changes, you do not receive an e-mail with instructions from WHA, or if you are unable to open presentation materials, please contact Lisa Geishirt at WHA two days prior to the event to allow time to address the issue.

Substitution, Transfer and Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received in writing up to five business days prior to an event will be given a full refund less a $50 processing fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations received less than five business days prior and day-of-program no-shows. Substitutions are accepted.
