Partners of WHA, Inc. is pleased to present its 2007 Best of the Best Administrative Award to Greg Britton, president and chief executive officer of Beloit Memorial Hospital in Beloit, Wisconsin. This award recognizes an on-site hospital executive who demonstrates a cooperative, supportive, enthusiastic, and well-defined relationship with his volunteer organization. In nominating Greg for this award, his Volunteers in Partnership with Beloit Memorial Hospital (VIP) members stated, "Our CEO is visible, involved and committed to the hospital volunteers in every way."

Greg "places the volunteers as an integral aspect of the hospital's success and community image" through his constant support and recognition of the VIP group. He attends their monthly VIP board meetings, publicly acknowledges and thanks the volunteers at various times and at hospital-wide events throughout the year, and keeps both his office door and his home phone number open and available at all times, day or night, for questions and concerns.

When the group suggested changing their name from 'auxiliary' to something that signified their integral role on the hospital team and give them a more "updated designation," Greg enthusiastically supported this positive transition that promoted a closer association with the hospital. In addition, he encourages VIP involvement and empowerment in all aspects of employee and volunteer activities. He supports regular attendance of VIP Board members at the Partners of WHA state convention, spring and fall district meetings, and attends WHA's Advocacy Day in Madison side-by-side with the VIP members. "Our CEO is very proud of the hospital's volunteer organization and places them in high esteem in all of (his) hospital and community messages."

Partners of WHA is pleased to present its 2006 Best of the Best Award to Ronald Paczkowski, Executive Vice President of Franciscan Skemp Healthcare in La Crosse. This award recognizes an on-site hospital executive who demonstrates a cooperative, supportive, enthusiastic, and well-defined relationship with his volunteer organization.

Ron has played an important part in advancing the visibility of the Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Auxiliary. He promotes auxiliary events at monthly leadership meetings; linked the Auxiliary's Public Policy Education chair with internal and community forums for education and advocacy; encouraged the Auxiliary to support community-based services that promote a healthy community; and invited the Auxiliary president to participate in a group of organizational decision-makers who decide the process for donating monies to community projects. Ron encouraged the auxiliary to redefine its mission and develop a strategic plan, and provided them the financial resources required to accomplish it. He regularly gives auxilians and volunteers the opportunity to participate in Franciscan Skemp-sponsored leadership training. And in addition, he suggested a new activity within an established Auxiliary event, and, for the past four years, has taken full responsibility for it, recruiting sponsors, volunteers and participants.

In nominating Ron for this award, his auxiliary stated, "While many auxiliaries struggle to maintain membership--and even survive--(Ron's) aid and encouragement has helped our auxiliary become more visible in the region and increase its membership."
