WHA Applauds Senate Action to Support
Nurse Licensure Compact

Attribute this statement to WHA President/CEO Eric Borgerding:

“The Senate’s action today approving the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact will ensure that nurses serving patients in Wisconsin, many of whom are employed by our state’s hospitals and health systems, can retain the benefits of this important interstate licensure agreement.

WHA has been proud to work alongside Senator Howard Marklein, Representative Nancy VanderMeer and our partners at the Wisconsin Board of Nursing to make timely adoption of this bill a priority for the fall legislative session.”

Senate Bill 417 passed unanimously out of the Wisconsin State Senate on October 31. The Assembly plans to take up this legislation November 2. Governor Walker has already signaled his support of the legislation, as it has been incorporated into his recently announced Rural Agenda.
