“Wisconsin hospitals are proud to partner with Governor Walker today in releasing the initial recommendations from the Governor’s Task Force on Opioid Abuse. It is fitting that the recommendations be released at three hospitals across Wisconsin, recognizing the role hospitals play in delivering care to those suffering from substance abuse, identifying community needs and recommending proactive solutions to address Wisconsin’s opioid abuse epidemic.

WHA applauds Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and Representative John Nygren for leading the Governor’s Task Force on Opioid Abuse. Today’s interim report includes recommendations put forward by the Wisconsin Hospital Association that will provide investments in fellowship training for addiction medicine and streamline regulations for health care providers looking to expand access to substance abuse treatment.

Additional steps are needed to help those struggling with opioid addiction. WHA is committed to continuing our work with Governor Walker, Lt. Governor Kleefisch, Rep. Nygren, and the Governor’s Task Force to develop additional recommendations that will help accomplish this important goal."
