Former Governors Doyle and Thompson to be Keynote Speakers at Advocacy Day

This year’s Advocacy Day will feature former governors Jim Doyle and Tommy G. Thompson as keynote speakers in a moderated discussion with WHA President and CEO Eric Borgerding. WHA's Advocacy Day 2023 is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19 at the Monona Terrace in Madison. Register here.

Doyle served as Governor of Wisconsin from 2003-2011. He also served as Wisconsin’s Attorney General for 12 years before becoming Governor. Doyle currently is of counsel and a health care lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP where he provides strategic advice and counsel to clients regarding policy and regulatory issues in the areas of health care, energy and other highly regulated industries.

Thompson is a former United States Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary and served four terms as Governor of Wisconsin from 1987-2001. He also served as president of the University of Wisconsin System from July 2020 – March 2022. He has had an extensive career in public service and the private sector. Following his term in public office, he built, and continues to build with his work at Thompson Holdings, on his efforts as HHS Secretary and Governor to develop innovative solutions to the health care challenges facing American families, businesses, communities, states and the nation as a whole.

In addition, the day’s agenda will include the popular legislative panel discussion, followed by a luncheon keynote address from Governor Tony Evers (invited). The highlight of Advocacy Day is always the hundreds of attendees who take what they’ve learned during the day and then meet with their legislators in the state capitol in the afternoon. Advocacy Day is one of the best opportunities hospital employees, trustees and volunteers have to make an important, visible impact in the state capitol.

After a three-year hiatus, join your peers from across the state to help make this year the best Advocacy Day event ever! Click here for more information and to register. There is no cost to attend Advocacy Day, but pre-registration is required.
