WHA Praises Legislators for Introducing Innovative Solution to Improve Care, Reduce Costs in Wisconsin Medicaid Program

Attribute to WHA President/CEO Eric Borgerding

“The Wisconsin Hospital Association strongly supports LRB 4332 that creates and funds a pilot project in the Medicaid program to better manage the health care needs and reduce the costs of patients who regularly seek treatment in hospital emergency departments. Many of these patients have complex medical issues that require a number of interventions from multiple care providers to resolve or manage their overall health and a care manager that the patient knows and trusts. LRB 4332 will provide funding for intensive care coordination services that have been proven to effectively manage the health needs of these patients while improving the care they receive at a lower overall cost to the Wisconsin Medicaid program.

WHA has been proud to partner with Reps. Joe Sanfelippo and Jessie Rodriquez and Sen. Alberta Darling and we thank them for their steadfast commitment to this concept and this legislation. LRB 4332 is a true partnership approach, an innovative reform that capitalizes on the nation leading health system we have in Wisconsin to provide better patient outcomes and lower costs associated with Medicaid patients who frequent hospital emergency departments.”
