US overdose deaths linked to stimulants, particularly cocaine and methamphetamine, are now second only to fentanyl-related deaths, with fentanyl often found in both drugs. Stimulant use is particularly dangerous due to more lethal forms of methamphetamine and the challenges of engaging and retaining users in treatment, as well as the lack of FDA-approved medications for stimulant use disorder. The presentation covers effective behavioral treatments, especially contingency management, and other evidence-based approaches for clinicians treating stimulant use disorder.
