Controlling Costs and Improving Access to Care

Gundersen St. Joseph – Hillsboro

Gundersen St. Joseph - HillsboroGundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital and Clinics has formed a strategic partnership with Seats Incorporated, a Wisconsin-based manufacturer, to help control healthcare costs by eliminating the middleman. Seats Incorporated, a self-insured company with around 500 employees in Reedsburg, WI, has taken proactive steps to manage healthcare expenses, including the creation of an on-site clinic for employees and their dependents.

Over the past year, the collaboration with Gundersen St. Joseph’s has focused on contracting directly for common medical tests and procedures, such as mammography, MRI, CT scans and colonoscopies. This direct contracting eliminates the need for prior authorization and simplifies billing, reducing administrative time and costs for both the manufacturer and the healthcare provider.

This partnership is an example of how businesses and health care providers can work together to streamline processes and cut unnecessary costs. By having the on-site nurse practitioner refer patients directly to Gundersen St. Joseph’s, the health care provider can efficiently deliver services without dealing with the complex insurance processing typical of traditional health care systems. Additionally, the nurse practitioner has access to electronic medical records, allowing for easier follow-up with patients. This model represents a win-win for both parties, offering a more efficient, cost-effective approach to health care that benefits employers, employees, and health care providers alike.
