Aurora Medical Center – Summit Teams up on Emergency Preparedness Plans
Aurora Medical Center - Summit is a Level II Trauma Center, so they complete community-wide emergency preparedness drills on a regular basis.
The partnership with the Wisconsin Army National Guard raised that training to a higher level, literally.
Professionals from both Aurora Summit and the National Guard shared their expertise in both hospital trauma centers and field scenarios. Flight paramedics from the National Guard simulated medical support in the field. Their air ambulance, a Blackhawk helicopter, continued the simulation by landing at Aurora Summit Medical Center. Finally, mock patients received treatment at Aurora Summit’s emergency and trauma center.
The hospital’s partnership with the Wisconsin Army National Guard allowed hospital providers and other teammates a new way to simulate a mass casualty situation so the community is better prepared for the next incident.
