Registration Now Open for WHA’s 2027 Health Care Leadership Academy

Past graduates reflect on their experience

The WHA Health Care Leadership Academy, designed to help current and emerging leaders better understand the “business of health care,” graduated 10 individuals from seven WHA member hospitals on June 16. These graduates were asked to reflect on their experience in the program:

“A fantastic program that had a lot of great knowledge, experience and fantastic instructors. It was a great way to network with peers going through the same challenges and grow [collaborative] relationships.” Health Care Leadership Academy graduate
“I really liked the 360 analysis that provided a comparative profile of my self-description and a by-others profile. It was very insightful to see how others view my performance vs. my self-view. There were so many topics in the program that often do not come in a formal classroom setting. This program has been incredibly insightful as a leader and how I can improve my own performance to be the leader I want to become.” Health Care Leadership Academy graduate

It is because of these positive experiences and outcomes that the Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA) will again be offering this certificate program in 2027. As with previous years, this hybrid program is available through the partnership between the Wisconsin School of Business Center for Professional & Executive Development (CPED) and WHA. Registration is now open and you are encouraged to sign up early.

The need to build resilient and capable health care leaders with the skills to successfully navigate the complexities and opportunities of the future of health care is vital. Hospital and health system leaders have a particular need to understand the “business of health care” so they can contribute in more meaningful ways to improve patient care, cost management, and effective service delivery.

The 2027 WHA Health Care Leadership Academy is for clinician and non-clinician staff and is targeted toward two groups of people within WHA member hospitals:

  • Leadership staff who aspire to be promoted into the C-Suite
  • Newer C-Suite leaders who want to continue to be promoted within the hospital

Registration for the 2027 program is now open. Partial scholarships are available to the first 20 registrants.
