According to Price County and Marshfield Medical Center-Park Falls’ Community Health Needs Assessment, mental health and substance use issues rank among the top health priorities for the community. The Price County AODA/Mental Health coalition is a strong group of dedicated partners and community members who are working to address the limited resources, geographic isolation, and stigma that often prevents individuals from seeking the help they need. To confront these challenges head-on, MMC-Park Falls has partnered with the Price County Substance Use and Mental Health Coalition, a dynamic group of local leaders, healthcare providers, educators, and community advocates. Together, they are working to promote, protect, and preserve the health and well-being of both youth and adults across the county.

Guided by the coalition’s mission— “Leaders in promoting, protecting, and preserving the health and well-being of Price County adults and youth through partnerships with people and communities,” MMC–Park Falls plays a vital role in aligning healthcare expertise with grassroots efforts. MMC-Park Falls contributes by supporting community education, helping to connect residents with care, and offering healthcare expertise and clinical knowledge. In a county where access to behavioral health services is limited, this partnership is critical for bridging gaps. The coalition’s purpose—to sustainably align people and resources while fostering stewardship and cultural connection—is especially important in a rural setting. MMC–Park Falls supports this by encouraging community ownership of solutions, respecting local values, and helping build trust between the healthcare system and residents. Whether it’s through hosting provider trainings, participating in awareness campaigns, or supporting local events, MMC-Park Falls is helping to ensure that mental health and substance use are addressed with urgency and compassion.

Together, the coalition and MMC-Park Falls are creating a more resilient Price County through individuals feeling supported, families becoming empowered, and the community growing stronger through collaboration.
