SSM Health St. Clare Foundation Helps Sustain Critical Transportation Access in Baraboo
Drivers with Baraboo Transit help provide critical transportation access to community members. SSM Health St. Clare Foundation in Baraboo provided a $50,000 grant to maintain the service.
When the City of Baraboo was faced with ending its local shared ride taxi service, SSM Health St. Clare Foundation – Baraboo stepped in with a one-time $50,000 grant to maintain the service. By funding the City’s shared ride taxi service, critical social and financial barriers to health care and basic needs were removed for area residents, including access to healthcare, groceries and education. The service also helps residents maintain their social connections, which prevents isolation and loneliness within vulnerable populations.
“This service is more than just a ride- it’s a lifeline,” said Julia Randles, SSM Health St. Clare Foundation – Baraboo Executive Director. “It connects people to medical appointments, groceries, and even helps students get to school. Supporting it aligns with our mission to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve.”
Investing in community transportation resources reflects SSM Health’s commitment to addressing barriers to care and supporting the overall health of the communities it serves.
