Wisconsin Medical Examining Board Recognized for Commitment to Provider Mental Health

The Wisconsin Hospital Association is proud to recognize the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board (MEB) for its leadership in supporting clinician well-being. The Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation recently named Wisconsin a Wellbeing First Champion, a national designation that acknowledges the MEB’s license applications as free from overly broad and invasive mental health questions. This important recognition reflects a shared commitment to reducing stigma, removing barriers to care and fostering a culture where health care professionals feel supported in seeking help when needed. We applaud the MEB for setting a powerful example in protecting the mental health of those who care for our communities.

Building on this momentum, WHA is partnering with the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment (AHW) and the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation in the Caring for Wisconsin’s Caregivers initiative to extend this progress across all health profession licensing boards in the state. With the leadership of the Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS), this collaborative effort is focused on aligning Wisconsin’s licensing practices with national best standards that promote clinician well-being and reduce stigma around mental health.

To learn more about this recognition and the broader movement to support clinician well-being, read the full DSPS press release. You can also explore the AHW video, which highlights the Landmark Initiative and the shared commitment to creating a healthier, more supportive environment for Wisconsin’s health care workforce.
