Wisconsin Rural Health and Substance Use Clinical Support (RHeSUS) Program: Lunch and Learn Series Offerings

Peer Support Services
This Lunch and Learn series was developed to support those who treat and care for people struggling with substance use disorders in rural Wisconsin at no cost to participants.

Join us for a RHeSUS Lunch & Learn featuring Wes Arnett, certified peer support specialist.

This presentation explores what peer support is, and just as importantly, what it is not. It will demonstrate how peer support is increasingly being utilized in a variety of settings to support individuals with substance use disorder and mental health challenges, and provide evidence demonstrating how peer support works to help create positive outcomes.

Throughout the presentation, Wes Arnett will blend his lived experience with substance use disorder and mental health challenges with first-hand boots-on-the-ground knowledge of providing peer support in a variety of settings, including to those seeking recovery in the community, individuals who are incarcerated, those visiting a medication for opioid use disorder clinic and those presenting at a hospital emergency department.

Wes Arnett is the Category Manager of Recovery Coaching and Sober Living at Recovery.com. He is certified as both a Peer Support Specialist and a Certified Parent Peer Support Specialist. Wes is also a CCAR Recovery Coach Professional and Facilitator, training and certifying recovery coaches across the field. He believes strongly in multiple pathways to recovery and is dedicated to walking alongside peers as they build meaningful, self-directed lives.
